TechTatva’17: Behind The Scenes With Vigilance

If you’ve ever wondered why your friends don’t let you win at the event they’re hosting, you’ll have your answer soon enough. Vigilance, one of the most important supporting categories of TechTatva is often referred to as the bouncer of TT. Without their help, chaos would’ve spread all through college, and the fest would have crumbled before its start.

MTTN had the opportunity to interview Alkesh Kumar, category head of Vigilance. Here’s what he had to say.

MTTN:  What is it that Vigilance does?

Vigilance does everything from crowd control to the smooth functioning of events. We make sure that nothing unfair happens during written tests or any other round for that matter.  We make the final result sheet and handle the distribution of prizes as well. Basically, we ensure that fest goes on without any glitches and transparency is maintained.

MTTN: How many people do you have working in your team?

Our team is quite large and comprises six core committee members. Apart from this we have around fifty organisers, two HRs and 55 volunteers.

MTTN: How many hours of work did you have to put in to ensure that things ran smoothly?

Our work started at the beginning of the semester. We had a meeting with all the technical categories to explain the rules and protocols that they were expected to follow, but our main work was during the whole of Pre-TechTatva and TechTatva.

MTTN: How did you resolve disputes if there were any?

Disputes were avoided as much as possible. However, what is work without a few obstacles? Some issues were resolved through cordial discussions with the concerned core committee or the participants with the help of the Student Council.

MTTN: Are you satisfied with how everything turned out throughout the workshops as well as the main fest?

Yeah we are pretty satisfied with how things went. Everything was fine except for some confusion that took place with certain categories which are bound to happen at this massive level of organisation.

MTTN: Do you have any tips for the future team that will handle Vigilance?

Always be honest and faithful to your work rest will fall in place itself. Always be polite and humble but don’t compromise your self-respect. And finally, always have the back of those working with you in as we’re a team, we’re a family.

MTTN: What do you think about this year’s Tech Tatva and how would you improve it if you could?

This year’s TechTatva was a lot of fun. The fest was managed very well, and all the categories along with the Student Council did a wonderful job. For the improvement I’d ask for more food tokens (chuckles). Just kidding, there is not a single thing that we’d like to change from this fest, it was perfect.
