Sunburn Manipal: Annual Fundraiser by RedX
Sunburn is a synergy of music, entertainment, and enjoyment. People from all over the country travel to Goa in order to celebrate the start of a New Year amidst their favourite artists. It has earned itself a reputation of being the largest EDM festival in India. Therefore, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the students of Manipal have been highly anticipating this event.
This year is an auspicious one for the university, as it is celebrating its Diamond Jubilee with festivities planned all year round. On 28th January, around 7 PM, Sunburn will mark the launch of the cultural fests and it will be followed by further exciting events. Artist Zaeden, well-known in the country for being the youngest Indian DJ to be featured at Tomorrowland, as well as the first Indian to feature on Hardwell on Air, will be one of the artists on show. He’s particularly known for his remixes of Coldplay, and Maroon 5 songs. Sharing the stage with him is artist Teri Miko. She’s replacing the earlier artist Candice redding, who cannot make it due to unfortunate circumstances. DJ Teri Miko, one of the most energetic DJs of the world, has played in renowned music fests like Sunburn, Supersonic and so on.
This year’s show seems far more promising than last year. Since it is being held in the open, it is bound to attract a larger crowd. Apart from that, they’ll have food stalls, sales, confetti and fireworks going on to give the perfect EDM experience.
This event has been organised by RedX, known mainly as the socio-adventure club of Manipal. Their interests also include providing funds for schools located in nearby districts. They have promised that all funds raised through the event will be utilised for a project named “Empowerment for Underprivileged Girls”. The girl child topper of every institution will get their future education funded by RedX. This project will be carried out in schools in the vicinity. It will serve as a great motivation for them to study, as well as give their parents incentive to educate their children. Apart from this, they also plan to start the concept of mobile schools. They intend to go to the schools in the villages every weekend and educate the students about the importance of education and a career. To take the concept of mobile schools further, they have already started discussions with companies like Volvo. They hope that through this venture of theirs, they will be able to increase the percentage of girls studying in schools, in nearby areas. They will be providing aid in the form of benches, blackboards and water purifiers.
To keep up with the current trend, RedX has made the tickets available online on BookMyShow as well.
Varun Harnathka, the chairperson of the club, is confident that the event will get a positive response from the students. “The artists are popular and I know we will get a great turnout”, says Varun. Let’s hope the event matches up to the students’ expectations.
We hope the team gets the response they are hoping for. Here’s to more Sunburn concerts by team RedX and a promise that they will reach their set target for the fundraiser. Mark your calendars for 28th January, and don’t miss this event!
