The Aeronautical Engineering Program at the Manipal Institute of Technology is one of the oldest and largest educational programs of its kind in the country.
The Bachelor of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering offers undergraduates a fundamental understanding of aerodynamics, structures, vehicle dynamics and control, propulsion, and interdisciplinary design and a good preparation for careers in aeronautical and aerospace engineering. If you’re really fond of aviation and space and want to pursue a career in civil aviation, or generally around aircraft- this is the branch to go for. It incorporates elements of mechanical engineering with electronics and structures hence allowing you to go beyond just “aviation”. The faculty is extremely helpful and approachable. The labs are up-to-date with state-of-the-art flight simulator,mini jet engine and a wind tunnel. They also have a working plane and a real-life turbo-fan engine. The labs are mostly practical-based and extremely useful for learning skills that would be used further down in the aviation line. Undergraduates are well trained to function as professionals who can formulate, analyze and solve problems that may include economic, social and environmental constraints. Finally, they are prepared to communicate and function well in the global environment as well as in teams, and contribute substantially by doing research, developing, and implementing future systems and applications.
The Aeronautical Engineering program is very active and productive in aerospace engineering research in all of the essential disciplines listed above, so that the abilities of faculty in the classroom continuously reflect the rapid advances in technologies and methodologies which are characteristic of the field of aeronautical engineering.

The B.Tech program in Automobile Engineering deals with the study of various engines and their construction, electrical systems, alternate fuels, safety, economics and quality of an automobile. For a better learning experience, students are exposed to case studies and problem-based learning, brainstorming, written tests, computer simulation, group discussions, industrial training seminars and projects. The graduates are placed in organizations specializing in products and services related to automobile industry, software solutions, product and technology, like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Daimler India Ltd, Honda 2 wheelers, Tata Consultancy Services.
If you’re interested in everything pertaining to cars, bikes, trucks and other motorized vehicles, this is the branch for you. With a small teacher to student ratio, learning is augmented with practicality: whatever you learn in the classroom is applied to the real world through world class labs and projects. You’ll never regret taking up this course if you’re really interested.

Biomedical engineering research at MIT Manipal focuses on the application of engineering principles to the analysis, manipulation, design, and construction of biological systems, and on the discovery and application of new engineering principles inspired by the properties of biological systems. Areas of research emphasis include: bioimaging, bioinspired design, biomechanics, biomedical devices, cell and tissue engineering, molecular medicine, molecular programming, synthetic biology, and systems biology.

The Department of Biotechnology was established in 2005 to impart quality education to students in the field of biotechnology and bioinformatics. It is a great course for someone who is inclined towards working in the industry. It prepares you on all fronts to understand the functions, design and manage equipment that the individual would be dealing with. For a person keen on Pure Science, this course would be absolutely enjoyable. The faculty is very experienced and keen on guiding a passionate individual. The labs are good by engineering standards however hands on experience limited in some labs. Generally the only ones who are passionate about the field actually stick around and move on for further studies. Hardly a handful sit for placements because of the wider and more promising perspective they have in the future.

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1957 – the oldest department in MIT – and has since, developed into a center of excellence. There are courses in transportation engineering, environmental engineering, structural analysis and structural design, water resourse engineering and even fluid mechanics. Program Electives include courses in environmental, bridge design and building codes. The mission of the department is to educate the students in the field of civil engineering with professional skills and ethical values through a holistic learning process. Computer Science & Engineering
Technology is an endless expanse of sea, computer science the submarine. This stream has gained a lot of attention over the past few decades due to the role it plays in this day and age.Despite popular opinion this field is not all about coding although coding is important. It gives one an overview of how the computer works right up from the electronics to the high level software. It’ll give you a good theoretical base in most aspects of Computer Science but it doesn’t give practical knowledge. Expertise in this field has endless possibilities because of the collaborative nature of our environment. Design, analysis and application of electronics & communication circuits, builds the foundation for this course. Graduates will be able to engage in design of systems, tools and applications of electronic circuits for a vast array of engineering problems. Core engineering and managerial tasks can be carried out in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environments, due to the nature of this field. The prime focus remains on operation of measuring instruments, which are used in the design and configuration of automated systems. Graduates will be adaptable to diverse working environments, possesses good communication skills and leadership qualities. One of the oldest and most reputed courses at MIT, Mechanical Engineering has 29 professors with PhDs, along with others pursuing theirs.
