DL 101: Music, Comedy and More

We’re all fairly adept at embarassing ourselves; comedians just know how to do it in style.

Riding the fresh tide of stand-up culture in Manipal, DL 101 brings to you a live stand-up comedy show featuring comedian extraordinaré, Kunal Kamra. Witness the hilarity at the ITC Fortune Hotel this Friday, the 18th of August, 7:30 pm onwards.

DL 101 was co-founded by Asim Athar and Amitoj Singh, with the primary agenda of revolutionalising entertainment in Manipal. Sure, Deetee and Hakuna will play your EDM and Martin Garrix, but where will you get the raw novelty of desi beats? DL 101 may be fairly new to the entertainment scene in Manipal, considering they’re only about a year old, but if there’s anyone who knows how to rock out, it’s them. It won’t be long before they evolve into Manipal’s exclusive Masti ki Paatshaala.

A relatively small start-up, their crew currently comprises a total of 7 enterprising and alacritic individuals, but they might just be looking to expand soon. (hint recruitment hint)

DL 101 will be hosting this gig in partnership with the Punchliners Comedy Club, Delhi. Featuring an opening act by Manipal’s very own Shubhang Yadav, this event’s really going to be the one to up the ante by several notches. DL 101 is not affiliated to any college, meaning that their events are the place to be, to interact with students across all factions of the university. Who knows, you may even discover some cool faculty there!

With two tremendously successful installments of Punjabi nights – a first-of-its-kind musical night celebrating ethnicity, great food and emphatic music, they’re now back with what promises to be one hell of a show, sprinkled with witty barbs and clever quips. If their previous events receiving a turnout of around 400 people was anything to go by, this event’s definitely going to be one to look out for.

That’s not all, the enterprising DL 101 has proved to be quite the conscientious team when it comes to delivering quality entertainment. Besides masterfully curating their highly acclaimed playlists featuring everything from Sukhbir to Daler Mehndi, they have several other projects up their tremendously versatile sleeves.

Psst- Do you sometimes reminisce about the golden ’60s-’70s era of Bollywood music, glittered by the likes of Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and a gazillion more? If so, DL 101 might just organize the perfect event for you – Retro Nights, an evening of timeless music and intoxicating milieu.

Here’s an opportunity for you to engage with your fellow Manipalites, and relive the joyous moments spent bingewatching stand-up comedy on your PC, in real life.

P.S. : DL 101 will be hosting another spectacular gig in September. Mark your calendars, it’s going to be worth it.
